Going this route is probably going to run $2,000 or more (I'm talking Canadian dollars here). Not to mention the cost of replacing the parts, then putting everything back together. He's about 95% certain that the tensioner is the issue, but he's telling me that it's 7 to 8 hours of labor (in addition to the 2 hours he's already spent looking into it) to pull everything apart even more to get to the tensioner. Mechanic figures that the timing chain tensioner is shot, or is about to grenade everything. There's nothing obvious going on with the valves, etc. ![]() ![]() So I took it into the shop and they pull apart the top end. My bike didn't experience any loss of power, no engine/oil lights came on, there were no leaks anywhere and oil/coolant levels were fine. ![]() A few weeks ago my bike - a 2005 M50 with 63,000 km (39,000 miles) on it - starts make a loud tapping/ticking sound.
